A new report has flagged concern about non-smoking risk factors like air pollution for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). “More than half the cases of COPD in India are because of exposure to high levels of air pollution,” Dr Sundeep Salvi, president, Indian Chest Society, said. The report, released on the occasion of World COPD Day (November 15), also features a new section on the importance of vaccination in patients with COPD.
